Identifying & recording
Suffolk's fungi

Under the umbrella of the Association of British Fungus Groups (ABFG), the Suffolk Fungus Group runs forays to find fungi at various locations within the county. In 2008 and 2009 we visited several new sites and the number of species found was very rewarding. This year we shall visit some more new sites and a few old favourites.

In 2009 we sent over 300 records to the ABFG. These have been included, along with nearly half a million other records, on their database and will be accessible on the National Biodiversity Network. You can see the ABFG records by visiting
www.abfg.org and selecting the database button.

News update - CATE provides 10 km mapping information
CATE, the ABFG on-line database, has the ability to display distribution maps of species or genera. The resolution is now 10 km squares. To use this feature, go on to the CATE database, enter the genus or species name and click on Totals Search. Then click on Totals Map. Drag and zoom the map to show your area of interest. To narrow the area by Vice County, use vc25 for East Suffolk or vc26 for West Suffolk.
